Global warming has slowly been changing the world we live in. It has also changed the way we do certain things in our everyday lives. Not to mention, it is something that is constantly on the news due to global warming activists and celebrities speaking out about the issues our planet is facing, as well as how it is affecting the continents all across the globe.

Many people are completely oblivious to global warming and others know about it but they do not know what to do about it. They will use the excuse of “what difference will I make?” and that is the wrong attitude. Here are just a few ways that you can combat global warming on our wonderful planet.

Cut Down On Your Use Of Water

It all starts with something we use daily and that is water. We use water to wash our clothes, clean our dishes, clean our bodies, drink and we also use it to cook. If you are lucky and have the options of both a bath and a shower then, consider using the shower. Also, if you do have a shower then make sure they are no longer than five to ten minutes. Make sure it is a quick (but thorough) wash and then jump back out again.

There are other ways to save water as well such as when you are brushing your teeth. When you are brushing, you do not need to leave the tap running. Once you have stopped using the tap then turn it off to save using too much water. The only times you should use the tap is when you are cleaning your toothbrush and rinsing your mouth out.

There are plenty of other ways to make sure that you do not use too much water at home. So make sure you research the numerous ways you can help reduce the amount of water you use in your home.

Don’t Rely On Your Car Too Much

As soon as people get a car, they think they should use it for everything just because of how much they have spent on it. However, this can cost you a lot of money in fuel and can damage the planet as well. If your commute to work is within walking distance or you have the choice of public transport then consider either one of those. Yes, they might make your commute longer but, at least you are saving the planet.

Public transport companies are constantly looking at different ways they can make their vehicles and journeys more efficient and eco friendly. Public transport is a good way of helping you save money as well as the planet so if you do have that option then you should consider it and watch how much money you save.

If you have a bicycle and your workspace is within cycling distance then take this up as another option. This improves your fitness, helps you save money on travel costs and helps save the planet as well. Cycling is just a win-win way to travel to work.

As mentioned earlier, once you have a car, you will want to use it wherever you will go. If you only need a few things from the grocery store and it is within walking distance then walk. Save mileage when it comes to your car because it saves the planet and saves you money.

Change to LED Light Bulbs

Swapping your light bulbs out for some more energy-saving light bulbs is one way to make your house more eco friendly. LED light bulbs are one of the most efficient out there, if not the most efficient bulbs out there for your home.

Incandescent light bulbs are cheaper than LEDs however, they do not last as long which is why you should choose LED bulbs as they are cheaper in the long run. So, swap out your old incandescent light bulbs now and treat yourself to some energy-saving LED light bulbs.

Vintage Jewellery

Vintage jewellery can be hard to find and sometimes can be very expensive, however sometimes you can find some cheap vintage jewellery that is of wonderful quality. If you are looking to propose soon and want to be a bit different, then shop around for some art deco engagement rings at antique jewellery stores. There is nothing wrong with second-hand jewellery, especially when it comes to saving the planet.

Treating yourself to some vintage jewellery can make a big difference when it comes to helping save the planet, however the mines to get these rare gemstones and materials produce a lot of CO2 which is one of the biggest contributors to global warming. The mines and quarries in many countries produce tons of wasted material as well as destroying the landscapes and disturbing wildlife. Vintage jewellery is some of the best out there so do not be afraid to buy it.

Become Vegetarian or Vegan

Changing your diet is a very simple but effective way of doing your bit in saving the planet. Meat and dairy products contribute to at least 14.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions according to the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation.

Changing your diet by either cutting down on the meat you consume per week or becoming vegetarian or vegan can help massively. Shop locally instead of buying from the superstore. Maybe even buy your fruit and vegetables from your local farmer. If you have the time and space, you could also set up a greenhouse, allowing you to grow your own fruit and vegetables.

There are plenty of healthy options out there that can help with saving the planet from global warming. Eating less red meat and eating more fruit, vegetables and nuts are just some of the foods that you can consider.

Conclusion

The planet and its ecosystem are changing very quickly due to global warming. The main reason for that is the human race. There are many little things that you can do to help save the planet. As well as many large things you can do to save it as well. Either way, it is not too late to start being eco-friendly so start before it is too late.
